From sailmaking and rigging technology to yacht electrics and electronics as well as an engine service, we offer our customers comprehensive support and first-class products from a single source.
In addition to a comprehensive winterising and wintering service, we also offer customised equipment in one of the largest yacht shops in the region with branded goods, offering everything from classic fittings and on-board equipment to care products and sailing clothing.
Our proximity to the Greifswalder Bodden and the Baltic Sea, one of the most beautiful sailing areas, guarantees excellent accessibility and makes us the ideal partner for yacht owners.
Facts & Figures
Trained as a machine and plant fitter, Dietmar Wendel has been travelling on sailing boats since his earliest childhood and with 8 years of experience as a squad sailor in Rostock, he turns his passion into a profession: he opens his own yacht shop called ‘Der Yachtausrüster’ with a workshop for sail repairs and a small shop for sailing equipment.
Bernd Rados joins the company as the second managing director and expands the team with his expertise in the areas of electrics and engines. In addition, a sailmaker's workshop is set up and the craning and rigging of boats are now also part of the service. The company now trades under the name ‘Yachtausrüster Wendel & Rados’. A shop for boat supplies and maritime gifts, the ‘Seekiste’, is opened in Wieck. The first sailmaker is hired and the construction of the first own sails begins.
In 2000, the company moves into the newly constructed company building in the Greifswald yacht centre and uses the larger space to expand all business areas. An engine fitter, a sailmaker, a seamstress and a secretary join the company. Bernd Rados leaves the company in 2011.
In 2012, Dietmar Wendel acquires the company building from HanseYachts AG. The ‘Seekiste’ in Wieck is closed down and moved to the new location. 2014 A sailmaking workshop is built next door. The departments are expanded and the first electronics projects are realised. The standard fitting of convertible tops on HanseYachts AG yachts begins, as does co-operation with international dealers. Wendel & Rados becomes a sailpoint for Elvström sails due to the standard (OEM-based) cooperation between Elvström Sails and HanseYachts AG.
The head of sailmaking Roberto Steinke joins the company as Managing Director and manages the company together with Dietmar Wendel..
